- Answer Yes! The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G ED prime is an FX-format lens but it's completely compatible with the Nikon D500 DX-format camera. When used on the Nikon D500 this super-fast lens will provide amazing images, however, there will be a DX crop factor due to the FX-format of the lens. QuestionIs this lens meant for FX cameras or will there be a cropped image? I only see that it's compatible with both FX and DX, but I have a FX camera and don't want a cropped image.

- Answer It's for FX cameras. I use it on my Nikon D610 and there is no cropping.
