• It has the option to record to external drives. I scheduled it to record something this afternoon.

• Yes, you can plug a USB hard drive (or even a large thumb drive) to the USB port on the AirTV Player and record your local channels.

• Yes but you need an antenna in order to get the local channels. And there is no option to set up a recurrent recorder for a show, or at least I haven't find it.

• If you have SlingTV with the cloud dvr option, you're supposed to be able to record local channels as well when you attach an antenna to the airtv. I haven't hooked up my antenna up yet, so I can't tell you anything specific about how it works.
