They're not removable. They do have a little bit of swivel out of the way, however being familiar with playing guitar i dont think its enough to allow to play comfortably.

Yes they are retractable they also swivel to the sides

Yes, they are bolted in the bottom of the seat rest.  The arms are user and there is also an extra inch or so of adjustment to be found there.
