“Do I understand correctly that not only are the cameras not included (and they are shown in the picture), but also you are required to buy a separate piece of equipment as well to have the camera(s) installed? What does that cost and what is it called?”

The cameras are sold separately. I am not aware of another piece of hardware thats required. You might need a wiring harnesses.
