I'm glad someone else hates this as much as I do. Awesome speaker but good Lord the voice at the beginning ruins everything. I literally want to throw the speaker away every time I power it on. ALTEC, change this please.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It appears you can not. It's the one reason I would not recommend this otherwise great speaker. I won't use it anywhere others might hear me powering it up. Which is really unfortunate. I'm fine with that being the default, but should be able to switch it to a simple notification tone (like it does when powering off) if you choose.

Look Altec Lansing, we get that you want to advertise your product but even right now, it's 6:30am and I have roommates and I just wanted to hear a little jazz music and I had to power on my Altec Lansing speaker and it just shouts out to everyone that an Altec Lansing Speaker is getting turned in, come on Altec, seriously though. Like anyone is going to hear that and run out and purchase one, it's actually likely to be the opposite.

At least make it customizable, so your neighbors can be entertained. Mine would be a shrieking voice, "Help! HELP!" Great way to throw $50 down the drain.
