Hi there - No the speaker will not shut down when the devices is disconnected. You will have to power the speaker off. The Just Listen app is currently still under construction and we will look at adding those features!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The speaker does shutdown eventually after disconnecting from Bluetooth, as evidenced by the red light on the power button. Haven't noted the amount of time, but it does seem to stay on for a while ... Maybe an hour. Don't suspect that it is using much power while it remains on ... The power to keep that light on is inconsequential, and if it is scanning the Bluetooth occasionally, it shouldn't significantly impact battery life.
