“Is there a screen blanking option when motion isn't detected? Mine doesn't ever seem to sleep. The motion sensor is on and set to 15 seconds in the setup screen.”

It should go into sleep mode. Check your settings, or possibly reset the unit and try setting up again. Do not reset until you backup all photos.
