The tap is battery operated and you need to "tap" the awake button to activate. The echo responds to voice activation and is always plugged in. An example is : Alexa, what is the weather like?"
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm not 100% as I don't have the TAP (But do have the Echo & happy with it!) but in researching it, the TAP appears to lack the speaker, while the Echo has one integrated in. I'm not sure of any other differences. Check out some YouTube reviews on the TAP.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The tap makes you physically touch it to activate Alexa but it can run on batteries and be carried around. The echo is much more useful since you don't need to be next to it or use your hands at all. You need wifi to use Alexa features.

The two major differences are: (1) the Echo has a larger speaker with better bass; and (2) the Tap is portable (i.e., it can be removed from its charging base and used in a cordless mode in different locations (as long as there is Wifi connectivity).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Amazon tap is smaller/portable version e.g for the beach however a lower output speaker.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Echo has more features and the TAP is more like the little sister version with less options. However the TAP is portable and the ECHO is not.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The echo you have to press the button, and then speak. Where as the echo responds to its wake up word, ie. Alexa
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Tap does the same as the Echo, but you have to tap it before it responds. The Echo simply needs you to say "Alexa" or whatever name you set.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. With Amazon Echo you can wake up Alexa the virtual assistant remotely without needing to touch the speaker, but with dot because it's not always plugged into power, always-on Alexa isn't available you must push a mic button to access the service. Tap is therefore useful if you're always on the go unlike Echo is always plugged into power and has to be placed.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You have to have an Echo for the Tap to work
