Does it recognize German?? null

Yes, it does now, change the language setting.

I think amazon is continuing to upgrade features. I believe it should be more intuitive and have more conversational abilities.Could be very a very good tool to help those with dementia or physical handicaps. I hope that Amazon realizes this and continues to improve this wonderful product. Not just for money, but for service to help others. Thank you Amazon!

Not sure if you got the answer to this yet? But as of now it doesn't have International translations for the echo Alexa. My friend wanted this in German as well and we looked into it and was told in the near future they will look into that. Hope this helped?

Nope right now the Alexa software-only does English
