To do cool things with your Alexa you will need the proper “smart plugs” or “smart bulb” Accessories , once you get your Alexa purchase these and from there you will be able to turn on and off your smart bulbs , or turn on and off any device that you connect to your smart plug . To add you can also set timers and much much more with these smart Accessories ... if there is any more you would like to know about YouTube will be your best friend . Another thing the sound on this smart speaker is pretty good , smaller in size but has a great sound . Hope I could help .. take care .

You must purchase other items such as smart switches and smart plugs to get more use out of this. This can control those other smart devices with your voice.
