yes, the dot can be setup through an app on a smart phone. when you plug in the dot, you use the app to connect to a temporary wireless network on the dot. from there, you tell the dot what network to use (the wifi in your apartment) and the password to get in. from there, it disconnects you and the dot reconnects to the wireless network in your apartment. the only thing that the dot connects to is power. optionally, you can run a cable to a stereo receiver to play music through it, but it can play music and sounds through it's own speaker without issue.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Alexa is simple to integrate into your home wifi network. Install the Alexa app on your smartphone and it will guide you thru the setup.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You will need your own personal WiFi and internet access, not a public one. The Echo connects via your WiFi using the smart phone app (Android or Iphone). The app walks you through the setup which shouldn't take more than about 10 minutes. The only wired connection you need for the Echo is for power.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Absolutely. Need a smart phone so you can download the app to complete the connection but no reason it would not/should not work in your condo.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The dot connects right to your WiFi. You will have to download the Alexa app on your phone, but I’m sure you could use a computer as well. Once it is connected to the WiFi it is basically a stand alone unit and you shouldn’t have to use your phone unless you are trying to set up routines with the dot.
