no. You can add a music station to your Alexa app, such as Apple Music or Amazon music, as long as you have the subscription for that music service. Then, you just have to tell Alexa to play music. It's simple! NO hooking up required!

Then she has access to all your music to play. Just say Alexa, play blah blah on Spotify or Alexa, play Classic Vinyl on XM. I don't think I'll ever listen to my stereo again! Lol
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You can use any smart phone or tablet to set up the Echo Dot. All you have to do is download the Alexa App and go from there. The app will walk you through setting up your account and connecting to your home wifi. Once the device is set up you can add all your streaming music services. It doesn't download the music, it streams it through your wifi.
