As long as it's on the same Wi-Fi network, the original set up is still in place if the device is unplugged.

Hi HaliB! The Echo Dot will remain setup even after moving locations/outlets. The only way to put it back into setup mode is to hard reset the device, or to do so from the Alexa app on your phone. Thanks for your question, have a great day!
