• yes, just find a Bluetooth speaker you like and connect to the Echo. Sound quality is always in the ear of the listener.

• Hello BarbMart, Thank you for your question! There is not an external speaker that works with older Dots. There are some amazing audio upgrades on with the Amazon Echo Dot (5th Gen) and the new Echo Pop. Please feel free to stop in to your local Best Buy and try them for yourself.
