It won’t affect it. You using it in two different units. So you will set it up for the living room and connect them both. Tell Alexa which room to play music in and it will.

Please try again later.Hello danwsox, when setting up Echo speakers like the Dot through the Alexa application, one of the steps allows you to place the speakers in various rooms and groups. This allows you to ask Alexa to play music in different rooms or in multiple rooms at the same time by just asking. One of my favorite capabilities is being able to place two of the same model of Echo speakers in one room and having them function as stereo speakers. (left and right audio) Echo speakers also have a microphone array that allows them to detect which speaker is closest to the person making the command, and will respond from the ideal speaker.
