• I think so. You have to have the Alexa app on your phone to connect it to the wifi in your house. It asks for an Amazon account which i have so I didn't try to set it up without one. I am pretty sure you have to have an Amazon account but it doesn't have to be Prime.

• Hello! You will need to download the Alexa app onto your phone or tablet to set up the Echo Dot.
