“Does this have a temperature sensor in it like Ecobee or Nest? It would be a very big missed opportunity by Amazon if it does not! Oh btw, they also need Marketing help since this has the same name as a service Amazon provides...”

I have a Sensi smart home thermostat that controls my furnace & A/C, and the Echo Flex communicates with it easily. I can change temperature, change modes (heat, cool, or off/on).

Alexa pairs with the nest. That is more of a feature for a thermostat not a virtual assistant.

Hello, MrGrinch! The Echo Flex does not come with a temperature sensor built in, but the Echo (4th gen) does have one built in.Have a great day!
