No special plug or socket required. It screws into a normal bulb outlet and works through integration with the app. All of the smart electronics are housed in the base of the bulb.

No special plug or socket is needed! I have these bulbs in table lamps, ceiling fans, nightstand lamps, etc! If you don’t have the newest version of Amazon Echo Plus (with the hub built in) you will need to purchase the Hue hub (which I have because I have the older version).

No I just put the bulb in and I went to the echo app and it worked

No just screw the light bulb in somewhere. Tell Alexa to find new devises and done.
