• No, the speaker is not as good as the previous version, so I put the older one back in its place.

• Hello BuffaloJoe and thank you for your question! The Amazon echo show 8 has 2 - 2.0" speakers, compared to the echo show 5 which has 1 - 1.7" speaker. The echo show 8 has double the speaker and they are slightly bigger than the echo show 5. I hope this answers your question! Have a great day!
