• No, there is no monthly cost for the echo service. Currently I have the Echo Dot and I'm probably going to get the Spot next. As I said there is no monthly cost. If you don't have Amazon Prime then you probably won't be listening to music through Amazon which is no big deal since there are other music services you can use it to listen to.

• There is no monthly cost for the Echo service. However, subscription to Amazon Prime opens up Prime Music which gives you access to a limited amount of streamable digital music. There may be some other perks that are worth visiting amazon.com to research.
