“What is difference between this one and the Amazon 6" 16GB Fire HD -- I am considering each one. This seems newer. But 6" one does not have the SD card input. So is this one better because you can add the SD card? Can you play games on this?”

The difference is this one has the SD card for expanded memory. It also was a bigger screen. You can play games on it just as you would on the 6" just with a bigger picture. I own both and prefer this one. I haven't used my 6" at all since I bought this one.

You are right it does not have a micro-SD card slot, so you cannot increase storage like you can on the HD 8. The HD 8 also has the latest version of the Fire OS, which will allow you to access the Alexa application on it. The HD 6 does not at this time. The HD 8 also has a longer batter life, and of course a larger screen. It also has better audio with dual speakers, the HD 6 has only a single speaker.

I think the six-inch has an SD slot as well, but the 8 inch one has 1.5 ram in that little bit makes a difference in the speed. I had the 6 inch long before, and it's not nearly as sleek as this one, it was kind of brick-ish.
