• Despite what other's have said, this is indeed the ad-supported version. You need to spend another $15 to remove the ads. The guy in the store even told me it was not the ad-supported version, but he was wrong. annoying.

• I bought mine on Nov 25, 2016 from Best Buy and was told in the store this is not the ad-supported version. In fact, it was. In my Amazon account I was subscribed without my knowledge for ads on the Fire, and if I want to unsubscribe I had to pay $15. Had to call Amazon and explain that I did not know I am subscribed, that it was bought from Best Buy without being stated on their web-site this is the ad-version, etc. Finally, Amazon unsubscribed me for free. Though, I think it is better if Best Buy sells the ad-supported version to state it clearly. The difference between ad-supported version and not ad-supported version is $15 on most retailers, as of today, Jan 9, 2017.
