Hi Kat! The Fire Max 11 tablet doesn't require any accessories to function, they just give some additional features. You can access email a few different ways, either online using the browser or via the built in email app. Using the app you'll be prompted to add your email account with Google, Hotmail/Outlook/Live, Yahoo!, and AOL as the quick options right on the front page. You can even go into advanced mode to add an email address via POP3, IMAP, or Exchange for even more options. I hope that helps, have a great rest of your day!
