• If you want them to play games together at the same time then yes 2 controllers are required. You can also use an xbox 360 wired controller that you can plug into the usb port on the fire TV. this will not work for the Fire Stick.

• Some games let you take turns but I would totally get 2 remotes I did

• only if you want to? and you have to download a free or paid multiplayer game. if you have 1 remote will b fine for most games.

• No you don't need a controller to play any of the games. Apple made sure to add that in the requirements for the AppleTV. "any game in the app store but be able to be played without the addition of the extra hardware" So you are good to go. :)
