Take out of package, take out of clear plastic, pull backing off behind where the buttons are and you will the opening

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had the same issue - was concerned I was going to break it!!! Hold the remote top up in your left hand if you are right handed. Insert your strongest finger nail, or a small straight slot screwdriver bland in the top most gap above battery compartment -this will be the tiniest one above the tab. Push down hard until you fell your nail/blade find the slot in the tab, then pull it towards you. It's really a standard setup, but very tight.
