FIRE TV DOESN'T COST THAT MUCH, SO I'M ASSUMING THIS "PROGRAMMING" IS WHY THAT PERSON IS TRYING TO GET SO MUCH MONEY FROM YOU!!! I'D SUGGEST YOU GO TO AMAZON.COM, OR EVEN YOU TUBE, FOR A BETTER PRICE RANGE!!!

If you simply want the FireStick for what it's made for (Netflix, Amazon Prime Video/Music, etc) then no. Some people load programs like Kodi on them and then charge a fee. In all honesty, you can buy a FireStick or FireTV and load the Kodi software yourself. All you need is a Youtube tutorial and 30 minutes, MAX. I have already done 3 different ones for my friends and I. Not hard at all.
