A standard WIFI signal in good proximity will work fine. The 3 I have have no problem connecting to my wireless router in another room of the house. The quality of the stream will come down to the quality of you internet service coming into your home.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's not so much the wifi service, but it's really about the streaming speed. To run the fire stick in HD you need at least 20 mpbs(megabytes per second), and in 4K I would say 40 mbps. Just to keep a solid stream with no buffering. I use Charter because the guarantee a minimum of 60 mbps and with my router that streams as much as 300 mbps I never have a problem. I stream anywhere from 60-100 mbps for 2.4 Ghz, and 150-300 for 5 Ghz. So it's really not so much the service as much as it is how much power the router can produce.
