You can highlight. If you long hold on a word it will bring up the definition of the word on the screen.

You can absolutely do that, all you have to do is hold your finger on the word you're interested in learning about and you can highlight it to check it's definition or look up it's Wikipedia entry. You can also highlight passages to bookmark them and make notes or annotations, and they'll sync to your account so you can check them on other devices. We use it in my home to help study, highlighting passages and then checking them via the Kindle app on a PC to check notes and combine them together. Hope that helps, have a great rest of your day!
