For me, it was the weight. I wanted it to be as light as possible and easy removal of the case. Taking my Paperwhite out of the case was a pain. The Paperwhite plus the Amazon leather case is $119.99 + $39.99 = $159.98 (full price) and the Oasis is $289.99, which includes the case. For me, the Oasis being lighter and easier to hold was worth the $130. I read enough for me to justify the additional cost for those added conveniences.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The biggest difference is its thiner and the battery cover can be disconnected. It's great if you keep it in a front pocket all the time like I do, the voyage is better if you're budget conscious but I love the Oasis.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I guess that's a personal choice. It is just a reader not a tablet, has 2 batteries, one in cover that recharges the one in the reader, cover is detachable to make the reader really light. Page turning buttons on side of reader work either left or right, the "page turn button" side of the reader is wider and easy to hold on to. Books can be listed in "Collections" and if you have books stored in Amazon's Cloud and are in Collections they can be downloaded by Wi-Fi or USB cable. Also, if you're not on BookBub.com, check it out. Free & inexpensive books in whatever category you select.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. In my opinion it is worth the price due to the light weight, longer battery life and its capability to be read in bright sunlight.
