Is this the ad-free version (or does it have ads)? null

It depends on which one you buy, but either way I believe you can pay Amazon to have tha ads removed. The ads only appear when you first turn it on, not while you are reading. To me it wasn't worth the extra money to turn them off.

All kindles have adds/offers. you can sign into your amazon account and pay $20 to remove it and have standard screen savers
