1. The ads are just placed on the main lock screen. You won’t have any intrusive ads while you’re reading. 2. The regular Kindle has no backlight or touch control. Paper white adds the backlight for reading in the dark and a swipe gesture to control your page turning. 3. No iPhone necessary, just an amazon account to route books through.
