To change the background color on a Kindle Paperwhite from white to black, you can enable dark mode: -Open the control panel by swiping down from the top of the screen or tapping the down arrow -Tap Dark Mode in the top right corner to turn it on You can also invert the black and white colors on a Kindle by going to Settings, then Accessibility, and then Invert Black and White. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It is not like your.phone but you can adjust brightness and there is a auto adjust that takes into account the lighting you are reading in and adjusts brightness accordingly. My wife says it is.easier to read than her old version

Later open developer options and search for "Force Dark mode" and turn on. This will Force apps to use Dark mode even if not fully supported. Thank you, Have a great day.
