The pen doesn't write in kindle format books. It will write on PDF documents and books.

The dedicated eraser allows you to erase by simply flipping the pen upside down. The shortcut button can be used to seamlessly highlight, erase, create sticky notes. If you are writing on a note page on your Kindle, you can change the settings by tapping the icons on the top right side and choose a tin or thick ink style! The Kindle Scribe pen is compatible only with Kindle Scribe and will not work on any other Kindle. Hope that helps!
