You do not require to have a separate phone number. This is no different than connecting to your favorite Bluetooth headphones / earbuds. It's that simple.

I am not sure if I am missing something that needs to be used with the cable that came with it. I need specific instructions on how to charge it and how to tell how much charge it has left on it. I may just need to keep submit another question about charging.
