Yes, charge him up and he's ready to go. You do need a smartphone, tablet, or computer for control and learning.

When we opened our cozmo it had everything except the usb charging block that the charging base plugs into that goes into the wall. You can use any usb block that you have laying around, such as one for a cell phone or tablet.

As long as he or someone in the home has an iPad, Yes. Takes seconds to set up and my son was playing with Cozmo.

Yes, but Cozmo will have to be hooked up to an internet source through another compatible device like the home computer or a tablet. I think we also had to let him charge a bit.
