  • QuestionIf this antenna is connected to a pole high above the house, does it need to be attached to a ground in case of lightning?

    Asked by SuzyQ.

    • Answer Hi SuzyQ! We do recommend grounding your antenna or mast during installation according to The National Electrical Code Article 810. Every state has different requirements and since we are based in St. Louis our local electrical codes for our location would be different from your location. We do not show grounding installation in our videos due to this reason. For grounding information, you can read our guide here https://www.antennasdirect.com/cmss_files/attachmentlibrary/pdf/Grounding-Info.pdf and then contact the NEC, a local licensed electrician, or a local electrical inspector for details in your local area. Thank you!

  • QuestionIs the main material steel or aluminum??? I live in a salt water environment.

    Asked by Ernie.

    • Answer Hi Ernie, Thanks for your question! The main material is aluminum. Aluminum is a great choice for outdoor use because it’s naturally resistant to rust. However, in saltwater environments, it will experience corrosion over time due to the harsher conditions. If you’re near the coast, we recommend periodic inspection and maintenance to help extend the lifespan of the product.
