The Clearstream 2 Max has 8-9 dB gain for the UHF band and between 2-3 dB gain for VHF band, depending on the specific frequency. The gain is created by the shape of the antenna, and the balun. It is not an "amplified" antenna because there is no external power source. When Best Buy says the Clearstream 2 Max amplifies the OTA signal, they are most likely referring to the higher than average gain for the size and shape. I am sorry for any confusion caused. Thanks for your time!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There is no powered amplifier (or power source). It is definitely a strong antenna, but it isn't externally amplified. I have only had a couple HDTV antennas, and neither was amplified, nor did they need it for 50 to 60 mile range. Maybe the smaller (flat) antennas are a different story.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The antenna I received was not powered.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There is no external power source. The only external connection is coax. I used the indoor stand and placed it in my attic and got great reception on my two TVs using the existing coax in the attic. The longest run was about 50 ft, and the signal at that TV looked great.
