This antenna does not include an amplifier. Amplifiers don't always help. If there's a spotty signal to begin with, your chances of getting better reception with an amplifier are, in my opinion, 50/50 at best. An amp won't improve a signal that is obstructed; it may marginally improve signal strength for distant stations. This model seems to be fine up to 35 miles provided you have a clear line of sight to the towers.
