I have personally used the Mohu Leaf 30. It works great for stations within 30 miles. Their 50 mile unit is roughly double the price but you can decide which you would need based on how far you are from stations around you. For older TVs you can use any old antennae and a converter box. Not sure if you can use the old rabbit ears directly on a newer TV or not as I used the converter box even for newer TVs so I could connect cable through the normal coax and converter box through the RCA plugs on same TV.
