It is definitely possible for an antenna to work well in adverse conditions. The broadcasting towers are on the ground and send out a signal from a point on the tower. This means that the signal will rarely ever hit the lower atmosphere and therefore it is unlikely that signal is interrupted. Your location will most likely decide how well the antenna works.
