I am not an electrician, but would recommend you get professional advise from an electrician. Having said that, I would guess your sewing machine has a polarized (two-prong) plug which means it is designed to protect you sewing machine powered from normal household power. Adding a surge protector helps protect equipment when power flickers.

The BVN900M1 would support 480 watts of equipment connected to it. I would just look in the tech spec of the sewing machine to make sure it isn't over that amount. If the maximum power draw is under that then the sewing machine would work with the UPS.
