“My APC Back-UPS doesn’t power on. I haven’t used it in a long time, however I kept it plugged in, just in case. Could I have damaged the battery connected in the back and need to replace it?”

Thanks for the response. I found a YouTube video that recommended I take out the battery and reset the APC Back-UPS by pressing on the power button for 10 seconds and it worked. My APC Back-UPS is working again.
