“If I use this would it stop my main breaker quit tripping..basically would it only trip the breaker in the power strip?”

Thank you for your interest in our products. The PE6U21 would support 15 amps connected to it so I would try to keep it under that else yes it will pop the breaker on the surge protector. You may want to consider moving the equipment that is flipping the breaker to another circuit.
