Does this ipad have data or can data be added? null

It has WiFi, but not cellular data. If you have a cell phone these days, most can share their connection by creating a "personal hotspot". That may do the trick for you. However there is a model that has cellular data if you want that (but it's a bit more expensive and also requires a cell plan for it).

If you purchase the cellular version of the iPad, absolutely. Otherwise, you’ll need to connect the regular iPad to WiFi.
