Is Apple pen compatible with this IPad? null

The first generation Apple Pencil will work with this iPad (9th generation). Not the second generation Apple Pencil.

1st generation works fine with this. I found that out when I was informed to purchase the 2nd generation. It did not work - took it back and got the one for less money and worked fine.
