I use the IPad Air (new version from March 2019) and have all of the Microsoft Office suite on the device. Works great. I also use a Surface Book 2. If you safe to the cloud - it should work seamlessly for you.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Why bother with an external drive when you can upload the file to iCloud then pull it onto your iPad. It is much quicker and requires no extra hardware. You can get the iOS version of the MS office apps but in many cases the free versions of APPLES Pages and numbers will work very well
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Microsoft Office functions great on the device. You'll need a subscription to Office365, however, to fully enable its function. You can edit, view, print files stored on cloud drives (OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive) via Office365 iOS apps, which look, feel, and operate largely like the PC version...Very impressive. Jump drives, however, are a no go for file storage with an iPad -- Apple disallows this function through iOS restriction.
