• Its for data. Say you go on vacation and are riding in the car. The kids or wife can still use the data on your cell plan. I would only recommend this if you have unlimited data. They can use Netflix or prime video streaming. Surf the internet or anything else requiring data. It's not a must but it is handy.

• The cellular portion is a SIM card that works exactly like your smart phone anywhere your phone would have signal so will your iPad plus streaming internet access just like your phone

• You are able to use FaceTime and Messages on the tablet also Wi-Fi is tied to the cellular on the device this is important so that you do not have to depend on public access.
