Yes it works wonderful for streaming movies. I recently went on a trip and watched five hours worth of downloads from Netflix and it only used 20% of the power.

It will do a great job of that, but it is considerable overkill vs a standard iPad which will do fine with that

I hadn’t used my older iPads for streaming video unless it was a clip from Facebook, etc. However, I bought the larger iPad Pro and received 3 months of free Apple TV with it. I just signed up for it this week and the streaming video is excellent as is the display. I’m older and usually wear reading glasses but don’t need to with this device.

if you connect it to a monitor, as of now it not shows the screen as a box because it doesn’t take full advantage of screen displays. but apple will be fixing it in a upcoming software  update
