• No, the newer Macs do not have the Firewire connection. (See image) From what I've been told there is no way to convert the Firewire to USB so you may be stuck unless the camera maker has some sort of cable. I am in the same boat as I have older 8mm tapes that I am now at a loss on how to archive. Looking through some of the tech boards one way is to get a video card for a PC. You can then import to the PC and save and bring over to the Mac using a thumb drive, etc. Good luck!
