Can be used for App Store, iCloud, Apple Arcade, News+ ... cannot be used for Apple Store purchases (I.e. iPhone, MacBook, iMac).

You can’t use iTunes cards to purchase items in the Apple Store

In my experience, the credit can be used to make purchases in the iTunes Store, MacApp store, and iBook Store too. When you first scan the code into your Apple ID account, there’s a prompt asking you if you wish to apply it to your Apple Music subscription or to your Apple ID to the stores that I previously mentioned.
